I must admit that the Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia is one of the main reasons I wanted to visit Barcelona, Spain. I’d seen a few pictures of some of Antoni Gaudí’s other works but this one intrigued me most. When it was designed in 1882, Gaudí figured it would take about 200 years to complete, there were so many intricate details and calculations to be made. 132 years later and they’re only about half done. I’ve been told that there’s a big push to finish the church in time for the 100th anniversary of the death of Gaudí but since that’s 12 years from now, I have my doubts.
